Investing in Employee Education and Community Empowerment During Hispanic Heritage Month
Driving Unity and Belonging in the Workplace and Our Communities
Nestlé Health Science is proud to celebrate the rich and diverse tapestry of Hispanic and Latinx cultures and traditions this Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place from September 15th to October 15th. This month-long celebration provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions, achievements, and inspiring stories of Hispanic and Latinx communities.
To foster education and engagement, Nestlé Health Science encourages all employees to actively participate in a range of activities organized throughout the month. These events, sponsored by our Latinx Employee Resource Group and the Nestlé Latino Network, encompass panel discussions featuring influential Hispanic/Latinx leaders within the company, in-person celebrations and observances, mentorship workshops, fireside chats with prominent figures in the media landscape, guided book clubs, and much more.
"Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to embrace the diversity and cultural richness of the Hispanic and Latinx communities," expressed Laurel Catlett-King, Vice President and Head of HR at Nestlé Health Science U.S. "We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that promotes understanding and respect. By honoring milestones like Hispanic Heritage Month, we strengthen our genuine connections with employees from all backgrounds, further nurturing a sense of unity and belonging."
Fostering Positive Change in Our Hispanic and Latinx Communities
Nestlé Health Science Foundation, the charitable arm of the business, is demonstrating its commitment to driving positive change within the community during Hispanic Heritage Month. Through partnerships with two esteemed non-profit organizations, Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) and Pronto of Long Island, the foundation is actively giving back.
HACE is dedicated to empowering and advancing Latinx professionals in their careers. The foundation proudly supports HACE through various initiatives, including a scholarship program that recognizes and rewards college students within the Latinx community who exhibit a passion for education and community involvement.
In addition to its collaboration with HACE, the foundation also lends support to Pronto, a community outreach center that provides crucial emergency services to local individuals and families in need. The foundation's assistance specifically aids Pronto's Farm to Table Nutrition and Health Outreach Program, which offers a range of enriching activities such as science and computer research skill-building, creative visual arts, leadership development, gardening, healthy cooking projects, health awareness discussions, and fitness instruction.
Through these partnerships with HACE and Pronto, Nestlé Health Science is actively investing in the Hispanic and Latinx community and championing initiatives that foster education, professional growth, and overall well-being. We firmly believes in the power of diversity and community and is committed to making a meaningful impact during Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond.
In the spirit of amplifying diverse voices in the workplace and beyond, we asked a few of our colleagues to share their thoughts on what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them and how we can all embrace the meaning behind this important milestone, today and every day. Check out the video below.
